I was very disappointed. I was stung on the face by a yellow jacket which caused the area around my eye to swell to the point where I could barely see. My dad was kind enough to drive me to the ER and I was treated with IV of benedryl and couple of other meds. Between the swelling and the meds I could barely keep my eyes open but the ER doctor prescribed a steroid based med to reduce the swelling so we went thru the drive thru at Hometown to drop off the prescription and told them he would be back at around 2PM to pick it up. They said no problem. We went home and I went to bed. When I woke up at 6:30PM he told me that they would not give him the prescription because he could not tell them what meds I was already taking and needed to fill out info on their computer. I already missed my shift last night under doctor's orders and due to the swelling my safety glasses would not fit. Now I may miss another shift because I was not about to take the medicine to reduce the swelling and it may not be gone in time for work. I have also taken a steroid based anti-inflammatory before and they warned me about drowsiness so even if it gets the swelling down in time I might not be able to drive. I guarantee you that if I were to get into an accident on the way to work that cops would charge me and not them. Missing a day of work might not be much to them but I just started at this job and I am still in the probationary period. I also only make 10.50 and hour and spend about $60 on gas at a minimum per week. I had no control over missing the first day since I could barely see but missing a second especially when it could have been prevented and since I do not have a doctor's excuse for it makes me a little angry. I could understand if I was wanting to charge it or if I wanted to keep a running account but there is no need for them to have my medical information on file for anything else. As for what other meds I am taking, I gave that to the ER doctor before they prescribed it. What happens if someone goes there for a prescription epi-pen and is stung by a bee while waiting in line? Do they say, "Sorry sir or mam but you have to answer these questions before we can sale it to you.", while person's eyes roll to the back of their heads? I have had to have prescriptions filled at other places and they will tell you the warnings from a script that comes with the med, but I have never heard of a place asking you list all the meds you take or asking you to create an account with them before they will fill the prescription.
